Never-ending software subscriptions

You can’t just buy a program once and use it forever. Nope. You get to rent it. Forever.

You know what really burns me up? Software subscriptions.

You can’t just buy a program once and use it forever. Nope. You get to rent it. Forever.

It’s like taxes, but with worse customer service.

Take Quicken, for example. It’s a checkbook register. That system hasn’t changed in 100 years.

Money in. Money out. We figured that out before electricity.

So why am I paying 8 bucks a month to write down groceries and gas?

Oh, and they say “8 bucks a month.” But you can’t pay monthly. You have to pay for the whole year up front.

So it’s not 8 bucks a month. It’s 96 bucks a year to pretend I still balance a checkbook.

At this point, I’m not managing my money. I’m managing subscriptions.

I’m Grandpa Grumpy. And I’m way too old for this nonsense.
