When did a trip to an amusement park start requiring the same financial planning as buying a used car?

I took my grandchildren to a major amusement park and discovered that parking costs $40, admission can run nearly $100 a person and a soda requires a small business loan.

Once inside, I discovered half the food stands, beverage stations, games and rides weren't even operating.

Apparently, amusement parks have adopted the airline business model. Charge more, provide less and hope nobody notices.

Well, I'm Grandpa Grumpy and I noticed. Shouldn't full-price admission should come with full-service entertainment.

I'm Grandpa Grumpy, the only man in America who can walk through an entire row of motion-activated faucets and not trigger a single one.

Apparently, modern technology has decided I'm either invisible, a ghost, AI or no longer qualified to wash my hands.

I'm talking about motion-activated appliances. You know, those faucets, hand dryers and towel dispensers that are supposed to make life easier but somehow require the coordination of a traffic cop and the patience of a saint.

If you've ever stood in a public restroom waving your arms around like you're directing an orchestra just to get a drop of water, this rant is for you.

I swear these things aren't motion activated. They're annoyance activated.

Am I the only guy who can walk into a barber shop with 70 percent less hair than I had 30 years ago and still get charged luxury salon prices?

Apparently, I'm not getting a haircut anymore. I'm getting a "grooming experience."

What is it with barbers who want $25 to $35 plus a tip to trim what's left of my hair? Apparently, men have become just a little too obsessed with their hairstyles.

Every barber shop suddenly thinks getting a simple haircut requires a day trip to the spa.
