Why can't movie stars seem to keep their mouths shut, especially when their big movie is about to be released?

You know what really frosts my flakes?
Movie stars who just can’t keep their mouths shut.

Every time a big movie is about to hit theaters, somebody in the cast decides it’s the perfect moment to lecture the public about politics, social issues or some other controversy that has absolutely nothing to do with the movie they’re trying to sell.

One actress even said she didn’t care if certain fathers refused to bring their daughters to see her movie.

Really? That’s your marketing strategy?
As expected, the strategy failed big time and the movie lost millions of dollars.

Here’s a crazy idea. Let people enjoy the movie first.

This country is split on just about every issue imaginable. The quickest way to lose customers is to remind them why they disagree with you.

Sit through the closing credits sometime. There are hundreds of people who spent a year or more making that movie. Camera operators, editors, costume designers, makeup artists, special effects teams, musicians and countless others all depend on that film succeeding.

The studio may have invested $200 million to make it.

Then, just days before opening weekend, some entitled prima donna with a microphone and an ego larger than the big screen decides to turn the press tour into a political rally.

For what?

If people want your opinions on world affairs, they’ll buy a ticket to your speech.

But, if they buy a ticket to your movie, they just want two hours to laugh, cry or watch something explode without being dragged into another argument.

I’m Grandpa Grumpy and I love going to movies. But, they are supposed to be an escape from the world’s nonsense, not an extension of it.
