Website and app incompatibility

They use the same name and same logo, but with completely different brains depending on where you use them.

You know what really frosts my flakes? Apps and websites that don’t do the same thing.

Oh sure, they are the same name with the same logo, but completely different brains.
Who designed this? A committee of squirrels?

Take Google Calendar, for instance. Now don’t get me wrong. It’s a great tool that keeps me organized and reminds me where I’m supposed to be and when I’m supposed to be there.

But, let’s say, I’m out having lunch with a friend. He says, “Hey, my wife’s birthday is next month.”

So, I pull out my phone like a responsible friend and create a nice little recurring reminder so I can send her a text.

The next thing I know, my entire day is blocked off and nobody else can schedule anything with me.It looks like I’m booked solid hosting an all-day party.

But Google hides the feature to mark events as busy or free on the WEBSITE.

So, now I’ve got to go find a computer like it’s 2007 just to tell the calendar I’m not spending the whole day at my friend’s house eating cake.

And, this is from Google — the same people who can finish your sentences, track your every move, and show you ads for shoes you bought three days ago.

But, they can’t put one little “free or busy” button on the phone app?

They must expect us to use one app for appointments, another app for reminders and a third app just to stay sane.

I swear, the more “convenient” technology gets, the more work it creates.

I’m Grandpa Grumpy and I’m way too old for this nonsense.
